| SIGNS & CELEBS AT BAKER SOUND
For Immediate Release October 29, 2002 Baker Sound Studios was the site of a number of recording sessions leading up to the release of M. Night Shyamalan’s latest thriller Signs. Much of the source audio for the film was recorded in Baker’s Studio A (including a TV news broadcast by KYW-TV's Ukee Washington), and actor Joaquin Phoenix recorded a number of lines via ISDN. Baker had previously worked with director Shyamalan on his feature Unbreakable. A number of notable personalities from the sports world have been in for recent sessions. Philadelphia 76ers play-by-play announcers Marc Zumoff and Tom McGuiness stopped by to voice radio spots for McDonalds. Former Sixers guard Speedy Claxton was in; and basketball great (and former 76er) Charles Barkley joined us to record his new book I May Be Wrong but I Doubt It for Random House. Finally, a fully energized Pat Croce was in to lend his voice (and support) to a 9/11 charity fund. Baker Sound would also like to congratulate announcer Harry Kalas on his induction into Baseball’s Hall-of-Fame. Harry has spent a great deal of time at Baker over the years, and his talent and professionalism are a credit to his craft. Harry was with us recently to voice the current series of Campbell’s Chunky Soup spots, now airing nationally. Actor Fisher Stevens, currently appearing in Hack, has been recording menus for BRAVO cable network here at Baker. Menus are the brief programming announcements you hear on a networkthey usually include a phrase like Tomorrow at 5 . We’re pleased to announce that radio spots produced for The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Mega Jobs Section won Best Radio at the Editor & Publisher Marketing Awards in Toronto. This was a worldwide competition, with 1100 entries from 176 newspapers based in 28 different countries. The Inquirer’s spots beat entries from newspapers in San Francisco and Bogota, Colombia. Important Correction: Earlier this year, a press release incorrectly reported that audio post work on The Brownstein Group’s award-winning TV campaign for the New Jersey State Aquarium was done at Baker Sound. In fact, the sound-design for the TV spots was handled by Stimmung, with audio post completed at Eleven, both in Santa Monica. Baker handled sound-design for the radio portion of the campaign onlythat’s how the mistake crept in under the radar. Our sincere apologies to The Brownstein Group, producer Dan Hertzog of In the Wee hours, Michael Anastasi of Stimmung, and Jeff Payne of Eleven for any confusion caused by the error. |
