BAKER DOES “REALLY BIG THINGS”

We hope everyone had a great summer!  While you've been at the beach, Baker Sound has been quite busy:

Matt Rogers, host of The Discovery Channel’s Really Big Things, was at Baker Sound putting the finishing touches on a new episode of his popular program.  Matt was an offensive lineman for the University of Washington when they won the 2001 Rose Bowl, and went on to fame as a top ten finalist in the third season of American Idol.  After recording Matt, Baker completed the final mix-to-picture for delivery to Pilgrim Films in California.

Speaking of “big things,” Human Weapon cohost Bill Duff was in to narrate an episode of his show for The History Channel.  Bill is another college-football-star-turned-TV-celeb; this Delran, New Jersey native was recently featured in The Courier Post. Bill travels the globe, training with international hand-to-hand and martial arts experts.  Jupiter Entertainment produced the session.

As long as we're on a sports celebrity blitz, we should mention that Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz stopped by to voice radio spots in English and Spanish for the Lincoln MKX, with Y&R Detroit producing the session.  Five time Pro Bowler and former Eagles receiver Mike Quick was called in by Weber Advertising to record spots for Herr's. And current Philadelphia Eagle John Runyan tackled a voiceover assignment, connecting with Soundtrack Studios in Boston via ISDN.

In other news, Baker Chief Engineer Rick DiDonato has been hard at work mixing the new independent feature, Rocketman. The film is being produced by John Dorchester for Rocketman Films/Media Dog Films. Stay tuned for more details about the film in an upcoming Baker newsletter.

It's been a busy summer for local ad work as well.  The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News produced new spots highlighting their Shore Guide, the upcoming Eagles season, and Sexy Singles.  DeLeon Group was in to produce radio for Comcast’s Triple Play campaign.  Neff & Associates produced radio and TV for CarVision.com, while Caspari McCormick created new spots for clients including CarSense, Mystic Seaport, and Mystic Aquarium.  And Jim Burt was with us to produce new radio and TV for VF Outlet in Reading, Pennsylvania.

There's more!  Rob Linsalata from M was in with Jerry Robbins to produce a new radio campaign for Robbins Diamonds.  These theater-of-the-mind spots feature a music signature created by Baker’s in-house music division, MONSTER TRACKS, and include versions in the new five-second “blink” format, in addition to more traditional :30 and :60 lengths.  Also, iBOX Films created new TV spots for Colonial Penn featuring spokesman Alex Trebek.  The spots were scored by MONSTER TRACKS, and mixed at Baker by engineer Adrienne Christatos.  We're also well into political season; Baker is handling high-profile gubernatorial and senatorial campaigns, as well as numerous local races across the country. Finally, Al Paul Lefton brought an international flair to Baker Sound when they asked us to record narrations in Chinese, Japanese, German, and Spanish for a product called TYGARD.  Fortunately our engineers are fluent in each of those languages!  (Just kidding; we're not fluent in Chinese).

Hope to see you this fall!
