REMEMBERING RICHIE Baker Sound was pleased to record Hall of Fame announcer Harry Kalas as he narrated the new film Richie Ashburn: A Baseball Life. The documentary, written and produced by Dan Stephenson for the Phillies, was featured in this years’ Philadelphia Film Festival, and is available on DVD at the ballpark, Amazon.com, and other retail outlets. We fondly remember those occasions when “Whitey” himself recorded at Baker. Baker Sound is also handling audio production for radio and TV advertising for the 2008 season. If you notice a Zen-like focus among our engineering staff, it may be a side effect of recording two books by Buddhist nun Puma Chodron. Narrator Joanna Rotte read Comfortable with Uncertainty: 108 Teachings on Cultivating Fearlessness and Compassion, and The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times, both for Shambhala Publications. In other book-related news, former Tierney Creative Director Kelly Simmons stopped by to record a radio spot and podcast interview promoting her new book Standing Still. In advertising news, Caspari McCormick produced new spots for Jefferson University Hospitals, with original music scored by MONSTER TRACKS. Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers is the latest athlete to add his voice to the ongoing Jefferson campaign. Howell Partners was in as well, producing 16 new spots for Villanova University. And actor/comedian Dave Foley stopped by to voice TV and radio spots via ISDN for The Home Depot Canada. In political news, Baker Sound congratulates our friends at The Campaign Group for their recent Pollie Awards, including Best TV Campaign for Mayor Michael Nutter’s 2007 campaign. Mayor Nutter dropped by our studios recently to record a spot in support of Senator Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy. Baker Sound and MONSTER TRACKS Music have been busy with a number of political campaigns, including John McCain’s presidential run, and Colorado businessman Jared Polis’ congressional bid. Finally, champion bass fisherman Mike Iaconelli returned to voice new episodes of his show City Limits Fishing. The program airs on the Versus Network. And publisher Elsevier produced recordings of 44 surgical procedures for orthopedics with announcer Kris Chandler. For additional information contact info@bakersound.com or phone 215-567-0400. |
