| BAKER SWEEPS RADIO AT ADDYS
For Immediate Release March 6, 2001 Baker Sound Studios played a key role in production of a number of award-winning spots in last Thursday nights’ ADDY competition. Spots produced at Baker for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News accounted for a virtual sweep of the local radio categories, including Best in Show in Radio. Baker also handled audio post-production for a series of Comcast TV spots, cited for several awards including Best in Show in the Television category. The Inquirer received 3 ADDYs for radio commercials produced at Baker Sound including: Local: 60 for The Inquirer, Local Campaign for The Inquirer, and Local Campaign for The Daily News. The spots were produced/written by Inquirer Senior Creative Producer Dave Blazek as key components of last years It’s how you know campaign. I don't think you can overstate Baker's contribution to these commercials, remarks Blazek. Remember, each of these spots was significantly different than the others. There was humor; there was effects-laden production; there was seriousness... and each was handled deftly. You go to Baker and you know they always bring something to the table. It's just a great environment to enter into when you want to try something different. The judges went on to name the Inquirer campaign Best in Show in the Radio category. Baker Sound also handled audio-post for the award-winning Comcast Sportsnet television campaign, produced by Red Tettemer of Narberth. These spots received honors for Local Television Medium Self-Promotion, and went on to win Best in Show in the Television category. The spots titled Matter of Practice, Full Time Fans, and Arizona, feature a group of fans in serious training for viewing upcoming games. Baker handled the addition of music and sound effects, and created final audio mixes for each spot in the campaign. Established in 1964, Baker Sound built its reputation on the strength of its radio advertising production capabilities. Baker has added services over the years, including audio-for-video post-production, digital spot delivery, ISDN services, and MONSTER TRACKS Original Music, but radio production still holds a special place in the mind of owner Gary Moskowitz. It’s why I got into the business, recalls Moskowitz. Creative audio production is essential in radio. It requires the right tools---and, even more importantly, people who understand the medium. These awards are particularly gratifying coming on the heels of recent national radio productions we’ve created for Dodge and Cottman Transmission. I hope we’ll continue to see this level of commitment to radio in the coming years. I know it’s something we really enjoy doing. |
