BAKER 2005 AWARDS ROUNDUP

For Immediate Release

May 3, 2005

The recent awards season “warmed” a lot of hearts here at Baker Sound Studios due in large part to the success of spots we created for the Better Home Heat Council.

The spot titled “Playdate” was awarded Best of Radio at the ADDY Awards back in March, as well as a Gold ADDY for Best :60 Regional/National Radio spot.  Another spot from the campaign, “Nekkid Family” was awarded a Silver ADDY in the same category, and the entire campaign was awarded a Silver ADDY for Regional/National radio campaign.

This performance was repeated at the recent Philly Gold Awards, where “Nekkid Family” took the Best of Radio award, as well as the Gold for Best Regional/National Single :60.  The spots also received a Gold award in the Regional/National Campaign category.

This is the second year in a row that spots produced at Baker for the Better Home Heat Council received honors.  The spots were written by Rich Ratay, along with Kelly Simmons also who served as creative consultant.  Pat Cannon produced the sessions, which included talent casting in Philadelphia as well as our affiliate facility, 38 Greene, in New York.  The New York talent was recorded at Baker via ISDN, where the spots were edited and mixed by Baker President Gary Moskowitz.

We’re also pleased to report that Holton, Teitelman & Gury won a Philly Gold for Best Local Radio Campaign for spots they produced for Bob & Ron’s World Wide Stereo.  These spots were recorded, edited, and mixed at Baker Sound by engineer Adrienne Christatos, and feature original music by staff composer Chuck Butler.

Our in-house music division, MONSTER TRACKS wasn’t left out of the fun either, scoring a Gold award in the category Visual & Audio Elements/Music Adaptation for the spot “Dueling Jeopardy Radio”.  In this :30 radio spot, composer Chuck Butler took the old favorite “Dueling Banjos” and “morphed” it into the familiar Jeopardy theme as part of Jeopardy’s 20th Anniversary campaign.  Thanks to Jeopardy, Kingworld, and production company Oink Ink.

We’d also like to congratulate the Phillies production team of JoAnne Levy- Lamoreaux, Kelly Simmons, and Sue Redmond for their Gold award in the TV/Cable Commercials/Local/Promo/Infomercial category for the Philadelphia Phillies spot “Abreu Wall”.  The audio was recorded and mixed at Baker, and includes some creative foley work (involving bubble wrap) by engineer Rick DiDonato.
