BOSNIA & BASEBALL: SPRINGTIME AT BAKER SOUND Baker Sound Studios recently completed ADR work on the Weinstein Company’s film The Hunting Party. Terrence Howard, who co-stars in the film with Richard Gere, was in Studio A with Baker owner Rick DiDonato for the sessions. Richard Shepard (The Matador) directed the sessions via ISDN from Widget Post in Los Angeles, with ADR Mixer Elizabeth Kenton supervising here in Philadelphia. The film is scheduled for release later this year. Oscar-nominee Howard has worked on a number of projects at Baker Sound, including recent voice over work on national spots for Toyota. Spring is in the air, and that means The Phillies are back! They've been producing new TV and radio for their “Goosebumps” campaign, which will air throughout the 2007 season. In other advertising news, Caspari McCormick was in to create a radio spot for the King Tut exhibit at the Franklin Institute. Masterminds Advertising resumed production on radio and TV for Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino. We're glad to see Beau Rivage back up and running after it was shut down by hurricane Katrina. Watch out for new radio campaigns for The Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News, also produced here at Baker Sound. An Inquirer spot produced last year at Baker was a Gold winner at the recent Addy Awards, and a Car Sense radio campaign produced here by Caspari McCormick also received a Gold Addy, and went on to capture the Best of Radio award. As you can see, it's already been a busy spring here at Baker, and we haven't even mentioned ADR work for Disney’s Underdog, sweeps promos for WPVI, ninety-five radio spots for the US Chamber of Commerce (Rick may have set a record for most radio spots produced in one day, we're checking with the Guinness people on that), and our ongoing series of spots for World Wide Stereo, produced by Holton Sentivan + Gury. In other broadcast news, Baker was excited to welcome John DeLancie (Q, from Star Trek: TNG), as he voiced an episode of Discovery Channel's Conspiracy Test titled "The Killing of Martin Luther King, Jr." Baker has also been recording Tukufu Zuberi for Lion TV, hosting the History Detectives series on PBS. Voice over artist Rod Houston came by to voice NBA Stories for NBA Entertainment. And here's one you have to hear: local voice legends Scott Sanders and Dennis Steele were in to record political “nursery rhymes” for NPR! Finally, Baker is recording several titles for medical publisher Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. They are in the process of converting reference books into audio study aides for medical students, residents, and nurses. And in what must be some kind of record, we have now recorded and edited over 40,000 (you read that right) words for Dorland’s Medical Dictionary CD-ROM, published by Elsevier. As a bonus to Baker clients, engineer Adrienne Christatos, who has been handling these projects along with new Baker staff engineer Jeff King, may now be qualified to offer medical treatment in addition to audio production. We'll let you know if she passes her boards. Have a great summer! For additional information contact info@bakersound.com or phone 215-567-0400. |
