| BAKER DRIVES DODGE
For Immediate Release February 20, 2001 Baker Sound Studios has been involved in several major radio campaigns since the beginning of the year, adding to their reputation as the premiere source for radio spot production in the region. Baker teamed with Oink Ink Radio of New York and BBDO Detroit to produce 3 national radio spots aimed at promoting Dodge’s long awaited re-entry into the Nascar circuit. Baker president Gary Moskowitz engineered the sessions, with Dan Price of Oink Ink producing alongside BBDO producers/writers Mike Menlo and Paul Stenquist. The spots feature actor/Dodge spokesman Edward Hermann in his usual voice-over role, and make extensive use of sound design to bring the listener into the world of the Dodge Nascar design team. Actual recordings of the car were made in Detroit and incorporated into the spots, along with sound elements created at Baker and Tabby Sound in New York. Each spot also features original music by MONSTER TRACKS (the original music division of Baker Sound). Composer Chuck Butler worked with the BBDO team to create music that reflects the high-tech design of the car and the energy of the Nascar circuit. The new car took the pole at Daytona on February tenth in its first Winston Cup appearance since 1969. Also on the automotive tip, Baker created three new national radio spots and handled audio design of two TV spots for Cottman Transmissions. Working with Glenn Gury of Holton Advertising and Harry Kalish from Cottman, engineer Gary Moskowitz was able to blend voice-over, sound effects, and music in a humorous and light-hearted campaign. Each spot sets up a series of difficulties the listener might face in everyday life---one of which is transmission repair---yeah, we can handle that is the payoff. These radio and TV spots are currently on the air. Baker also played host as Wawa put together a new regional radio campaign to mark their entry into the Baltimore/Washington markets. Domas Advertising and freelance producer Mark Ellis worked with engineer Moskowitz to record noted spokesman/TV personality Willard Scott at Baker. Scott voiced 6 new spots (plus tags) introducing the Pennsylvania-based food market to the D.C. area. The production also included music from Sonoton’s Lite Whimsy CD, produced by Baker’s in-house composer Chuck Butler. This recent flurry of radio work is really encouraging, remarked Baker President Gary Moskowitz. Baker built its reputation on strong radio work, and although we’ve had a lot of recent success with ADR and multimedia, it’s always great to have a chance to work on radio ads. We love radio---it’s an important part of any media strategy, and it’s good to see major national advertisers recognize that. |
