BIG SCREEN OR SMALL, BAKER HANDLES IT ALL

For Immediate Release

January 21, 2002

First and foremost, Baker Sound would like to extend greetings to all! We wish you and your family good health, good luck, and a prosperous new year.

Baker Sound has become a hub of ISDN activity in recent years, serving as Philadelphia’s “audio portal” to the film and television production community. ISDN capabilities allow us to send and receive CD quality audio over high-speed data lines in most of the major formats (no more bridges) -- even in sync with picture! This affords Hollywood studios (and others around the world) the opportunity to access actors who may be performing or residing in the Philadelphia area. It’s a great convenience both to the talent, and to out-of-market production teams. It also works in reverse -- allowing locally based productions to draw on talent from anywhere in the world. Here’s a sampling of some recent sessions at Baker:

Actor Terrence Dashon Howard was at Baker Sound recently in an ADR session for the new film “Hart’s War” directed by Gregory Hoblit (Fallen, Primal Fear). ADR is the process by which actors replace lines that were deemed unusable because of recording conditions on location or on the set. Baker was called in by the Skywalker Sound team--connecting with Todd AO in Hollywood to record Mr. Howard’s various ADR lines in sync with picture. The film, which also stars Bruce Willis, is slated for release in 2002.

Mona Marshall, who plays the voice of Kyle’s Mom on South Park, was in for a couple of sessions. South Park co-creator Matt Stone produced via telephone as Ms. Marshall voiced lines for an upcoming episode of the animated series on Comedy Central.

Legendary recording artist Lou Rawls was in to voice TV spots for the United Negro College Fund. Mr. Rawls is currently appearing in “Me and Mrs. Jones” at Philadelphia’s Prince Theatre.

Baker also worked on the recent Facts of Life Reunion special. Lisa Whelchel (you remember her as Blair) was in to record lines for the TV reunion. Baker worked with Warner Brothers Studios on the project, which aired in November.

An ISDN session with Post Logic in Hollywood for Dakota North Entertainment brought the Budweiser “Wassup Guy” Scott Brooks in to voice lines for the annual “The Best Commercials You’ve Never Seen” series.

Finally, Baker was pleased to play host to Phillies manager (and National League Manager of the Year) Larry Bowa, and rookie shortstop Jimmy Rollins. Jimmy and Larry were in to record their voice-overs for “Phillies 2001: Remember”, the Phillies annual retrospective of the previous seasons’ events. The program is currently airing on CSN. It was a truly exciting year for the Phils, so this years’ edition should be fun to watch.
